I think it is ludicrous that the UN which can't seem to do anything right should suddenly be able to take over the world. In this I find comfort in their
incompetence.
I also think that there are people in the media etc. who knows have to use the UN paranoia felt in the US to their own benefit.

Well I don't think that there is as much U.N. paranoia here as there are in other places in the world where the U.N. is actually ignoring human rights
issues but over-all I agree, although I don't think that the U.N. take over is sudden at all. Here in the U.S. there is more paranoia of terrorism than
anything else because the media is addicted to fear mongering.

It won't be the U.N. When said body has served its purpose, it will be superseded by something else, as The League of Nations was superseded by the U.N.

We had over a million people die of heart disease too, nobody is paranoid or freaking out about that. You have a better chance of getting ass raped by a biker
than getting killed by a terrorist.

The USA is opposed to the UN simply because the UN has been opposed to the USA's unilateral warmongering. That's the start, middle and end of the
story, and they will therefore try to tarnish the reputation or spread fear-mongering rumours at every opportunity, just as with any political smear campaign.
Compare the USA's attacks on the UN to the Dem's and Repub's attacks on each other during election campaigning.
