So, what is the conclusion of the 'inerrant' brigade? Obviously the conquest must have taken place in 2400BC. Um... so where's the rest of the evidence then? Let's look back to the other events that precede it - since you're moving everything back a thousand years.
Exodus. Now, this has been discussed more than once on this board, but of course moving it back to 2,400BC removes the arguments for the Erruption of Thera causing the plagues. It also moves the entry of the Hebrews into Egypt even further back, meaning the periods of the droughts/floods causing the famines that Jacob sorted out, no longer fit in. Nor do the buy-ups of the land by the Pharoahs, or the entry of asiatics into the region, or in fact any of the archaeological evidence that IS there, such as the Hyksos.
It's utterly ridiculous. What is worse - having one bit of archaeology that doesn't fit, or making all of it seem complete rubbish? The simple fact is, you can't get round the problem that the Biblical account is flawed.
