I need a new game to play! |

Any suggestions? The new Call of Duty any good? I've gotten all the achievements and cannot level up any further in RFG so it's time to move on. Maybe
the new Batman game? I heard it good but I don't really like those type of games.

Nothing? Nobody? Geez. I think I'm going to check out Borderland, see what the hype is about.

Modern War isn't that great and I don't see the sequel being much better. I keep hoping for a new Medal of Honor game.

I prefered the Brothers in arms series.

Never played. I've been noticing an influx in people with British accents playing Red Faction on Live recently. Did that game go on sale their recently or
something?
I like British accents, Brits sound like they know what they are talking about even when they don't.

Well if you like the WWII 1st person shooters try the Brothers in arms series. Hells Highway is on the 360.
I'm not sure about the 3rd one, Hells Highway (the nickname of the road in Holland that was the route used in the Arnhem failure) but the first two which I have on the old X-box are based around actual actions of the paratroopers in Normandy. You get to take part in a couple of famous incidents like "Cole's Charge". Bonus content you can unlock is partly excerpts from the actual after-action reports of the fights, or comparisons of the game to photographs of the real places that are mapped accurately in the game. It's squad-based in that you command up to 3 other squads (or tanks) with a very simple and intuitive "point and click" type system that uses just one button for most commands. The idea is that you use one unit to pin the enemy down and another to flank him but I often ended up doing the flanking myself while pinning multiple units with the fire team and assault team. Working out a flank when there are multiple german units providing mutual cross-cover is tricky, but MG42s, mortar teams and Panzers are a real bitch. If you can't find a flank for a normal squad you can always snipe them yourself with patience and prudent ducking behind cover but MGs have to be flanked (unless you can get them with a lucky grenade or maybe a panzerfaust) and mortar pits sometimes mean charging across open ground because cover is no use against mortars. Tackling tanks is the most unrealistic part of the first two games, you will find a supply of german anti-tank weapons lying around and you have to get off several good shots while trying not to get blown to fucking bits. You almost never have a bazooka team, In Hells Highway you do get a bazooka squad quite often, but yesterday I got mine wasted and had to assault a tank myself on foot which meant charging across 100 yds of open ground to place a satchel charge on the engine compartment. Suicide-or-medal stuff. There's a storyline running through it and you get attached to the guys of your platoon and when someone gets killed because of your orders you feel guilty, but hey, they come back to life after the mission. Or at the next checkpoint if you're playing on easy... You get to use M1s, M2s, BARs, "grease guns", Thompsons, bazookas, sniper rifles and a whole range of german stuff from the basic bolt-action rifle and MP-40 right through assault rifles, a submachine gun with sniper-scope that I forget the designation of and even MG42s, possibly the best machine gun ever built. In Hells Highway you can even pick it up and carry it like a rifle for the real Rambo types! One criticism I have is that except when they are counterattacking the German units are a bit passive and timid. Instead of trying to outflank you themselves they'll usually just sit and defend, even if you're stuck, pinned down thinking "where the fuck do I find a flank??". There's always a flanking option somewhere, but I sometimes don't see them until after I've done it the hard way, or perhaps there might be a different route the game designers had planned but it is possible to do it another way, that sort of thing. Sometimes you've just got to accept you'll get a couple of guys shot when you have to cross a few yards of ground to the next cover because there's an MG42 on overwatch in an elevated position and you have to clear out the orchard first in order to flank it. Or whatever. But you can't sit behind that raised dyke forever, can you? Come on, sergeant! You wanna live forever? I might have to play it based simply on the fact you wrote such a well informed article about it. You caught my interest. Now if you could just post a video of
it so I can visualize the actual game.
